The Perseid Meteor Shower
August 12-13, 2009
(Thursday night - Friday morning)
2am local time

The Moon will not interfere with the Perseid meteor shower this August. The Perseids can be seen during the evening hours as well as the morning but much more so in the morning. Watch anywhere in the sky, but the radiant point will be towards the northeast at 2am local. When I watched this meteor shower back in 1980, a bright, green fireball lit up the entire landscape and left a train of particles glowing for over a minute near the constellation of Cassiopeia -- awesome!
