Total Eclipse of the Moon on May 26, 2021 – USA

A closer view of North America (see graphic below). As you can see, the western half of the lower 48 will get to see a total eclipse of the Moon. But this gets a little tricky! If you live in Dallas or Houston, the Moon will set during the total phase, but they will not be able to see the complete 14 and a half minutes of totality…a portion of it, but not all!
Unfortunately, if you are in Chicago or New York, you won’t see totality at all. Chicago will get to see a partial eclipse of the Moon while New York may see the penumbral phase before the moon sets.
In California, you will see totality, but only parts of the partial or the penumbral phase near the end of the eclipse cycle. Hawaii and parts of Alaska will be able to see the COMPLETE lunar eclipse! Again, totality will only last 14 minutes and 30 seconds.
